If you are looking to purchase an alternative faucet for your reverse osmosis system, there are a few things to look for:
Hose Connections
Your system has three hoses (pictured below) that run to the faucet base. You'll want to look for a faucet that can house the following hoses:
- The red hose (1/4") carries the drain water from the osmosis manifold to your faucet base.
- The drain water passes through the air gap and runs down through the black hose (3/8") to your drain pipe under the sink.
- The blue hose (3/8") carries the clean product water to the faucet spigot.
Air Gap
It is extremely important to have an air gap on your system to reduce the risk of drain water backflowing into your filters. The air gap commonly looks like a small key-shaped hole on the back of the faucet base. The only exception to this is if you are installing your RO system in a remote location.
