Need to replace your check valve? Your check valve is essential to keep water flowing in the right direction through your unit. Depending on your model, the valve is located either on the side near the hose connections, or on top under a plastic cover. Let's get it back in working order!
Tools Needed: Tweezers or similar tool
Replacement Steps
1. You'll want to start off by turning the cold water supply off to your system or you can remove the Prefilter (by turning it counter-clockwise) to stop water production during this process.
2. Now go ahead and remove the six (6) screws that hold the Auto Shut-off Cover onto the plastic manifold (below in yellow). Depending on your model, these may be hidden under a plastic cover.
3. On the underside of the shut-off cover, you'll need to find the two ports with O-rings in them. The leftmost port houses your check valve (shown below).
4. You need to carefully remove the current O-ring and check valve with a small tweezers or similar tool.
5. Go ahead and grab your new check valve and install it into the port. You'll want the red ring facing out towards you. Make sure it's pushed securely into the housing, and you can place the new O-ring on top.
6. Flip the shut-off cover over and reattach it with the six (6) screws around the outside.
7. If applicable, replace the main plastic cover.
8. You're ready to open the cold water supply back up or reattach the prefilter (turning it clockwise) to allow was flow back through the unit again. You're done!
