Looking to replace the storage tank for your RO? The storage tank holds the product water from your reverse osmosis system. Follow our steps below and you'll have it replaced in no time! Let's get started.
Tools Needed: • Thread sealing tape • Bike or hand pump • Pliers (optional)
Click each step below to expand directions.
Step 1 - Disassemble the System
1. You'll want to start off by stopping water flow through your unit by turning off the cold-water supply or removing the Prefilter. Either one will work.
2. Now, we'll need to empty the existing tank. If the tank is already empty, skip ahead to step 3.
- Open/turn on the Osmosis faucet on your sink to allow water flow during the next few steps.
- On the side of your tank, find the Schrader Valve, under a blue plastic cap.
- Here, you'll need to connect a bicycle/hand pump to the Schrader Valve and add pressure into the tank slowly. As you add air pressure, the water in the tank will flow out through your faucet. Continue this until the tank is empty, then close/turn off the faucet.
3. Once the tank is empty, locate the tubing nut that secures the yellow hose to the elbow on the top of your tank. Unscrew this nut to release the yellow hose.
4. Then you'll need to unscrew the plastic elbow adaptor (pictured above) from the top of the tank. You'll use these parts to put your new tank together.
Step 2 - Reassemble with the New Tank
1. Go ahead and apply thread sealing tape to the threads on the nipple at the top of your new tank.
2. Now, screw the elbow adaptor onto the nipple and slowly tighten it, being careful to not cross thread (around 7 to 8 turns).
3. Go ahead and push the yellow tubing into the open end of the Elbow Adaptor until it stops. Now move the Tubing Nut forward onto the Elbow Adaptor. Slowly and carefully tighten the Tubing Nut by twisting it clockwise.
4. Your last step is to go ahead and turn your water supply back on or reattach the Prefilter that you removed instead. It’ll take about 2-3 hours for the storage tank to fill completely again. And you’re done!
NOTE: The storage tank is shipped pre-pressurized, so there's no need to add or release any air from the new tank.
