Got a leak at the tank connector on your RO? Let’s get that replaced so you can have it back up and running in tip-top shape.
Tools needed:
Threaded sealing tape (Teflon tape)
Bike or hand pump
Pliers (optional)
Removing the Current Connector Kit
1. Turn off water flow through the unit by turning the cold-water supply off or removing the Prefilter (this will also stop water flow.)
2. Now, you’ll empty the tank. Go to your RO faucet and turn it on. Let it run until the water flow stops. That means the tank is empty and we’re ready for the next step.
3. Once it’s empty, you’re going to find the Tubing Nut (pictured below) and unscrew it by turning it counter-clockwise. Then pull the yellow tubing out of the Elbow Adaptor.
4. Next, you’ll unscrew the Elbow Adaptor from the top of the tank (pictured above).
Attaching the New Connector Kit
1. Grab your threaded sealing tape (Teflon tape) and wrap it clockwise, 2 times around the threads on the Tank Nipple (at the top of the tank).
2. Now slowly and carefully screw the Elbow Adaptor clockwise onto the Tank Nipple (7-8 full turns) to tighten.
3. Grab your yellow tubing and make sure the Tube Insert is still inside (pictured below). Go ahead and take that end with the Tube Insert and Tubing Nut and push the yellow tubing into the open end of the Elbow Adaptor until it stops. Now move the Tubing Nut forward onto the Elbow Adaptor. Slowly and carefully tighten the Tubing Nut by twisting it clockwise.
4. Your last step is to go ahead and turn your water supply back on or reattach the Prefilter that you removed instead. It’ll take about 2-3 hours for the storage tank to fill completely again. And you’re done! Easy as that!
